Blog/Knowledge/Which diet lowers cholesterol the fastest?

When I first started this newsletter, someone emailed me saying they were desperate. They had just found out their cholesterol was high, and the doctor gave them less than three months to lower it naturally—otherwise, medication would be prescribed.

When they asked the doctor for advice on how to make it happen, he said it was up to them to figure it out.

So, which diet should this person follow to lower cholesterol in less than three months and avoid statins, heart attacks, and strokes? Let’s dig in.

What You're About To Discover:

  • Which diet lowers cholesterol the fastest (and makes us heart-attack proof)?
  • What are the rules?

Get ready for resistance

Did you know that before 1847, doctors had no idea germs were causing infections? They didn’t know they needed to wash their hands and tools before procedures. Some doctors would go from handling a corpse to delivering a baby without washing their hands or disinfecting their tools.

Because of this, women giving birth were developing childbed fever and dying. When Dr. Ignaz Semmelweis realized dirty hands (and tools) were causing new moms to die at a high rate, he ordered his staff to wash their hands and disinfect their instruments, which immediately and dramatically lowered the mortality rate.

It seems so obvious now, but other doctors were deeply offended, and he made very powerful enemies. He was outspoken about this, and by age 47, Ignaz was committed to a mental asylum. He eventually died from an infection that would’ve been prevented by handwashing.

Why do I tell you this? Because the diet proven to lower cholesterol and make us heart-attack proof faces the same level of skepticism and resistance despite overwhelming evidence.

Which diet lowers cholesterol the Fastest (& makes us heart-attack proof)?

Very few cardiologists know this because they stepped out of the box to figure out which foods cause heart disease. Two great examples are Dr. Esselstyn and Dr. Ornish.

Dr. Esselstyn has helped thousands of people become heart-attack proof after they were told nothing else could be done to save them. Twenty years later, they are alive and loving life.

The diet he uses to accomplish this is a low-fat, whole-plant-based diet. He discovered this diet when he studied the countries and communities in the world where heart disease is non-existent, like in Okinawa, rural China, Central Africa, the Papua Highlanders, the Tarahumara Indians in northern Mexico, and more. They all have one thing in common: they eat a low-fat, whole-plant-based diet, and their total cholesterol is consistently well below 150.

Low fat means eating 10 to 15% of fat. Whole-plant-based means eating unprocessed plant-based foods. This doesn’t mean people eat salads every day or that you can’t buy canned beans, for example. But buying canned beans is very different from buying canned chili beans. The chili beans are processed, while black beans aren’t—if you buy the right can.

So... what are the rules?

I want to be very specific about what to eat and what NOT to eat. If you follow these rules, your cholesterol levels will drop FAST. One of my clients dropped 60 points in two weeks, and another was within the normal range in four weeks after 40 years of trying! Here’s how it works:

What NOT to eat:

  • No animal products — The one and only source of dietary cholesterol is animal products. When you eat cholesterol, you increase your LDL. And no, this won’t make you protein deficient. When was the last time you heard someone’s doctor telling them they are protein deficient? Animal products not only increase cholesterol but it also promotes tumor growth and inflammation.
  • No oils — Oil is pure fat extracted from food. Our liver will transform the saturated fat into cholesterol. This is why vegans can also have high cholesterol.
  • No dairy — Dairy is the worst thing we can do to our bodies. Dairy is linked to tumor growth and cancer.
  • No nuts or avocados — These have a high concentration of saturated fats, which our liver will convert into cholesterol.
  • No added sugars — Don’t buy products that have “added sugars.”

What to eat:

  • Whole grains — This includes whole wheat pasta, whole wheat bread, brown rice, quinoa… just make sure it doesn’t have added fats.
  • Legumes — There are so many varieties!
  • Fruits — Any fruit!
  • Vegetables — All kinds and colors!
  • Potatoes — All kinds and colors!
  • B12 — B12 deficiency attacks the arteries
  • D3

That is the secret. This is exactly how you will be able to lower cholesterol the fastest AND how you can become heart-attack proof.

Please consult with your doctor, especially if you’re taking medication, so they can lower or adjust the dosage as needed. This diet also helps with other chronic diseases, so your doctor needs to monitor your medication requirements.
