When I first started this newsletter, someone emailed me saying they were desperate. They had just found out their cholesterol was high, and the doctor gave them less than three months to lower it naturally—otherwise, medication would be prescribed.
When they asked the doctor for advice on how to make it happen, he said it was up to them to figure it out.
So, which diet should this person follow to lower cholesterol in less than three months and avoid statins, heart attacks, and strokes? Let’s dig in.
Did you know that before 1847, doctors had no idea germs were causing infections? They didn’t know they needed to wash their hands and tools before procedures. Some doctors would go from handling a corpse to delivering a baby without washing their hands or disinfecting their tools.
Because of this, women giving birth were developing childbed fever and dying. When Dr. Ignaz Semmelweis realized dirty hands (and tools) were causing new moms to die at a high rate, he ordered his staff to wash their hands and disinfect their instruments, which immediately and dramatically lowered the mortality rate.
It seems so obvious now, but other doctors were deeply offended, and he made very powerful enemies. He was outspoken about this, and by age 47, Ignaz was committed to a mental asylum. He eventually died from an infection that would’ve been prevented by handwashing.
Why do I tell you this? Because the diet proven to lower cholesterol and make us heart-attack proof faces the same level of skepticism and resistance despite overwhelming evidence.
Very few cardiologists know this because they stepped out of the box to figure out which foods cause heart disease. Two great examples are Dr. Esselstyn and Dr. Ornish.
Dr. Esselstyn has helped thousands of people become heart-attack proof after they were told nothing else could be done to save them. Twenty years later, they are alive and loving life.
The diet he uses to accomplish this is a low-fat, whole-plant-based diet. He discovered this diet when he studied the countries and communities in the world where heart disease is non-existent, like in Okinawa, rural China, Central Africa, the Papua Highlanders, the Tarahumara Indians in northern Mexico, and more. They all have one thing in common: they eat a low-fat, whole-plant-based diet, and their total cholesterol is consistently well below 150.
Low fat means eating 10 to 15% of fat. Whole-plant-based means eating unprocessed plant-based foods. This doesn’t mean people eat salads every day or that you can’t buy canned beans, for example. But buying canned beans is very different from buying canned chili beans. The chili beans are processed, while black beans aren’t—if you buy the right can.
I want to be very specific about what to eat and what NOT to eat. If you follow these rules, your cholesterol levels will drop FAST. One of my clients dropped 60 points in two weeks, and another was within the normal range in four weeks after 40 years of trying! Here’s how it works:

That is the secret. This is exactly how you will be able to lower cholesterol the fastest AND how you can become heart-attack proof.
Please consult with your doctor, especially if you’re taking medication, so they can lower or adjust the dosage as needed. This diet also helps with other chronic diseases, so your doctor needs to monitor your medication requirements.
I know this is a lot to take in, especially since we’re used to a high-protein and high-fat diet. You can email me at hello@withoutstatins.com. I would love to know how you’re feeling about this 🖤.
