The good news is simple: the one and only source of fiber is... PLANTS! That’s right. The only way for us to increase our consumption of fiber to lower cholesterol faster is by eating more plants. Here are a few examples:

  • ​Legumes: beans, lentils, chickpeas, peas
  • Grains: oatmeal, brown rice, quinoa, whole-grain bread
  • Fruits: apples, raspberries, bananas, avocados
  • Vegetables: carrots, broccoli, beets, cauliflower

How should I eat it to accelerate results?

Too many people immediately start searching for a supplement online. I want to warn you that if you do this, you won’t get the results you are looking for. You won’t achieve speed, and you won’t achieve permanence. The only way I recommend is by eating it.

Here’s the framework you can use for each meal to accelerate results:​

  • Legumes: ¼ cup
  • Grains: ¼ cup
  • Fruit: 1 cup—consider fruits that aren’t sweet like cucumber, zucchini, tomato, avocado
  • Vegetables: 1 cup raw + 1 cup cooked

Now that you know how to create your meals to pack them with fiber, here are three sweet treats you can enjoy for dessert without any guilt:

  • Dates: These are delicious. Open them up, add peanut butter inside, and drizzle honey on top; they taste like they should be bad for you.​​
  • Plantains: Just don’t cook them with butter. I like boiling them and then putting them in the oven or air fryer.
  • Banana ice cream: Don’t make it with cow's milk, though. You can literally make it in a blender. It’s so easy.
