And of course... there wasn't a single study included in this article.

The scientific truth behind eggs and cholesterol

Let's get straight to the point—here are the highlights of my research about eggs with the studies to back it up:

👉 This study confirmed that eggs increase cholesterol. Their test consisted of two groups. Group 1 started eating half a cup of whole eggs a day and their cholesterol consistently increased. The moment they replaced the eggs with a substitute, their cholesterol immediately went down. The second group started with the egg substitute and their cholesterol stayed the same. The moment they switched to whole eggs their cholesterol went up immediately.

👉  This study shows that if we eat a cholesterol free diet, our cholesterol goes down. If we add eggs, our cholesterol goes immediately up. Here's a graph from the study showing how cholesterol goes up during the weeks where eggs were eaten and how it goes down during the weeks where they switched to a cholesterol-free diet.

👉 This study shows cholesterol increased 50 points in 10 days after eating half a cup of egg yolks a day.

👉 This study shows that eating 1 whole egg a day increases LDL by 12%. If you keep eating eggs, then you can expect cholesterol to keep increasing to a higher percentage.

​👉 This analysis of 53 studies confirmed that eggs increase cholesterol without a doubt. Yes, every single one of these 53 studies showed an increase of cholesterol when eating eggs.

How is the egg industry lying?

​There have been at least 139 studies about the impact of eggs in cholesterol and, every single one confirmed eggs increase LDL.

Here's the shocker... some of these studies were funded by the egg industry.

Every study, funded by the egg industry or not, confirmed eggs increase cholesterol. Period. But, to minimize the problem, they manipulated the conclusion section of studies to confuse the public.

In other cases, they manipulated the study to minimize damaging results. During the study, they would feed participants other high-cholesterol foods, to "show" how some people's cholesterol was unaffected when not eating eggs. Crazy right?

Top 9 egg substitutes

Here's exactly how I substitute eggs:

  • Tofu: Add turmeric for yellow color and garlic powder for flavor.
  • Silken tofu: Great for making cheesecake or chocolate mousse.
  • Bananas: Great for pancakes (batter: 4 ripe-ish bananas + 2 cups oats).
  • Apple cider vinegar: 1 egg = 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar + 1 tsp baking soda*.
  • Ground flax seeds: 1 egg = 1 Tbsp ground flax seeds + 3 Tbsp water.
  • Chia seeds: 1 egg = 1 Tbsp chia seeds + 2 ½ Tbsp of water
  • Applesauce: 1 egg = ¼ cup applesauce.
  • ​Pumpkin purée: 1 egg = ¼ cup pumpkin purée.
  • ​Yogurt: 1 egg = ¼ cup yogurt.

NOTE: Apple cider vinegar with baking soda is a great alternative when you need it to rise (like with cakes, cupcakes, etc).
