Blog/Recipes/Healthy Thanksgiving Cornbread!

Thanksgiving might seem far away in September, but I’m already posting recipes to help you feel more in control during the holidays—so you can enjoy them without stressing about damaging your arteries.

There’s no need to sacrifice everything. Instead, we can redesign most of our favorite recipes to enjoy the holidays without the guilt of compromising our health. Today’s recipe is cornbread, and trust me, it’s delicious!

What You're About To Discover:

  • What makes it cholesterol-free?

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup whole wheat pastry flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp dried tarragon
  • ¾ cup sweet corn kernels, cooked / canned
  • ⅓ cup applesauce
  • 1 ⅓ cups oat milk
  • 2 dates

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the dry ingredients (cornmeal, flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, tarragon).
  • Blend the dates with the oat milk until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the wet ingredients (corn, applesauce, and the blended date mixture).
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until well combined.
  • Pour the batter into a 9x9-inch nonstick baking dish (or line it with parchment paper).
  • Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

What Makes it cholesterol-Free?

Two key ingredients are missing from this recipe to ensure it's completely cholesterol-free. You can enjoy the whole dish without impacting your cholesterol levels:

  • No dietary cholesterol: Animal products are the only source of dietary cholesterol, and this recipe is 100% plant-based.
  • No added fats: While some high-fat recipes may claim to be cholesterol-free, the saturated fats in them are converted by our liver into cholesterol. This recipe avoids that trap entirely.

The secret to lowering cholesterol naturally and quickly is to avoid dietary cholesterol and added fats like oils. Every time we consume these, we’re harming our arteries and increasing our risk of heart attacks and strokes.

As much as I love steak and butter, the consequences are just too serious for me to ignore.
