Blog/Recipes/Clean Hummus Recipe

The problem with the typical hummus we buy at the store is that it has a lot of oil. Oil is 100% fat and contains large amounts of saturated fats, which increase cholesterol. Even though oil has been marketed as “heart healthy,” there’s nothing healthy about it.

Every time you add oil to a recipe, your cholesterol will inevitably go up. The fat you eat is the plaque you'll wear in your arteries.

Approved brand to avoid increasing cholesterol

There’s one brand I know of that makes their hummus fat-free, and it’s absolutely delicious. I personally can’t tell the difference in flavor. The one difference for me is that I tend to burp all day after eating regular hummus, but I don’t burp at all after eating this fat-free hummus… sorry for the TMI 😝

The brand that makes it is Cedar’s. Click here to see its “Nutrition Facts” label. It has less than 0.5g of saturated fats (which is why you’ll see 0 on the label), 0 trans fats, 0 cholesterol, and 0 added sugars. When I don’t want to make hummus myself, this is the one I buy.

Tomorrow, I will make my own since it’s really quick, and I wanted to share the recipe I’ll be testing for the first time. I’ll keep you posted on how it goes!
