Can I refuse statins?

Blog/Knowledge/Can I refuse statins?

I recently received an email from someone who said, 'My doctor wants me to take statins, and I said NO! Meds give me anxiety, and I refuse to do it.’

The big question here is: what's the right way to go about this if we want to fix our cholesterol problem naturally? Let's talk about it.

  • Should I refuse statins?
  • What I would do to take control

Should I Refuse statins?

Listen, I am ALL about figuring things out naturally and giving pharma the middle finger. BUT, we need to do this safely. The whole point of this is to eliminate the risk of having a heart attack or stroke.

So, what’s the answer? Should you refuse statins if your doctor is pushing for them? To be honest, I would take the statin, knowing it will be a TEMPORARY solution. Why? Because statins do lower cholesterol levels by around 20 to 30%.

The last thing I would want is to have a heart attack and worsen my situation. The moment you have your first heart attack or stroke, you are officially in the “heart disease” category, and the risk of becoming part of the statistics is now higher.

My #1 goal would be to avoid that first event (or next event) at all costs. I would take the statin while I figure things out and make a plan to get my doctor to take me off statins in less than three months.

Here's what i would do to take control

I would do this to prevent the first or any future heart disease events, like heart attacks or strokes.

  • Take a deep breath—High cholesterol and heart disease are FOODBORNE problems. Changing our eating habits WILL get us out of this mess. Even if you have a long history of heart disease in your family like I do, changing your eating habits will break the cycle.
  • Take the statin FOR NOW—Statins lower cholesterol levels by around 20 to 30%. My #1 goal would be to prevent my first or next event by taking the pill while I figure out exactly what to eat to lower cholesterol fast.
  • Upgrade eating habits—I would eat the same diet that people in areas of the world where heart disease is non-existent are eating. This diet would lower my cholesterol quickly, and my doctor would be able to take me off statins in less than 3 months! I will be releasing a program in a few weeks with exactly what to eat so you can get there quickly.
  • Test 30 days later—I have clients who have lowered their cholesterol by 60 points in less than 30 days. Your doctor will be floored by your quick progress. If your numbers are not quite there yet, I would test again 30 days later.
  • Reach immunity levels—Once your doctor is off your back about statins, I would continue to improve my new eating habits to reach immunity cholesterol levels and stop worrying about heart attacks and strokes.

Is it really possible to be immune to heart attacks and strokes?

Yes! As you work towards better heart health by following the steps above, you can actually become immune to heart attacks and strokes.

I learned this from Dr. Esselstyn. He is a former cardiologist. After many open heart surgeries, bypasses, stents, and prescriptions, he realized that none of these interventions addressed the root cause of heart disease. Cardiologists are not trained in nutrition at all! Most of them don’t even know that the cause is the food. Isn’t that crazy?
